When did you start to study English? What was difficult for you at first: speaking, listening, reading or writing? Who helped you finding the right school to learn English? Did anyone in your family know English before you started learning? Did he or she help you with your studies? Do you think people learn English faster at work or at school- why?

I started to study English when arrived to USA. First it was adult school. I had a good teacher. When I began to study I had a lot of questions and confusions. I studied hard and I liked English so much. I tried to speak English everywhere myself in stores, on appointments. I could speak but, I did not understand very well what people said me. It was hard. I did not know how I can learn new words well and quickly. Later on I understudied when I write, I remember better. I wrote a lot of papers and many notebooks. New I steel learn English. I am looking forward to my new language ‘’English’’.

I started to study English when I first arrived in the U.S in 1999. Reading and speaking were difficult at first. My sister knew English before I started learning. My sister did help me with my studies. I think that people learn English faster at school because the teacher forces and motivate students to learn English.

And they are helping me a lot. I think people can learn English faster at school, because teachers teach the right pronunciation and also they can communicate with classmates.

I started to study English last year. For me listening is more difficult because I can't understand. My husband helped me for finding this school. He studied here for three years and he helps me to study a lot. My children know very well English since they learned it when they were young. At school I learn better than at work because in the class teacher explains everything. At school we can learn reading, writing and listening. It is important to practice everyday, this way I believe we will learn better.

I never studied English. In school, I studied German and Russian languages. But I understand that in America, I have to know English. I began to study it with the alphabet. When I came to the store or the bank and tried to speak in English, no one understood me. It was hard because I had a little practice. All my friends talk to me only in Russian. My kids are talking to each other in English, but with me in Russian. So I decided to go to college. Today, I see a big change in my English!

My first contact was when I was in the school. I had a English Teacher very special, she encouraged me to learn more. For me read was very hard because one time I needed read a article for test masters and I don't understand anything. My friend said the College was better school to learn English, so I search and now I'm here very happy. In my family I have two cousin and one aunt who speak English at many years. Then don't can help me now, maybe later when I come back to my country. I mean to learn English more fast you need study and work too, because the school is very important to learn correct and in work you can practice more and faster.

I started to study English when I came to United States 3 years ago. I started learning by myself. I study at home on my free times. It was more difficult for me listening and speaking than reading and writing. Because on Listening and speaking the help of other person is needed to practice. I can practice reading and writing myself. My brother helped me to find American River College to continue learning English. It is necessary to go to school to learn English rules. In my family my sons and my brother speak English very well. They help me with pronunciation on some of the difficult words for me to pronounce. It is good idea to go to school to improve your English. The people that go to school and practice at work learn faster.

First time I start to study English when I was 19 years old. In our country came a young missionary. She started to teach us English. However, for me was very difficult because I could not understand why words are spelled in a way, but when the words pronunciation sound was completely different. I could not say "the" and read. Because of this, I was blocked and I did not have the desire to learn English. When I came in the United States, I start to go to Twin River Adults School. I began to study English there every day. I studied English there one year. I think that I can improve my English to College because I can do that now.

I started to study, but I did not have much time for a quality study. Now I have time to study. I live in the United States, but English is not easy for me. It is difficult to speak, I do not know many words. It is difficult to write, because English grammar is not easy. But I know, I will be better.
