Is there any holiday in your country that is similar to Thanksgiving? How do people celebrate it in your country? What do they do a day before and the day of the celebration? What food do they cook and serve? Who do they invite? Do they stay home or go out? Is there fireworks, parade and any other? Do people go to church, go on the streets, or visit each others' homes?

In Mexico we have many celebrations with parades, rituals and a lot of food that are not similar to thanksgiving’s celebration in USA. In many different towns around Mexico, many people celebrate their traditions in different manner. Some towns have their own Saint and celebrate on different days of the years. Like in my town we celebrate Saint San Luis. He is the saint of the town. The church has his name. The first week of August every year people meet together to clean all the streets of the town other people decorate the streets and the church of the town to be ready for the celebration. People donate money food or their time to organize and feed everybody in the festivities. This is a tradition that brings a lot of visitors from other towns to join to the celebration. We celebrate with parties, rodeos and ceremonies for one week. We enjoy with families and friends the good food and every event that happen during that week. And the end of the celebration all people from the whole town meet together in the church for the last ceremony for the offering to the saint. People offer food to other people. They offer as much they can to have a better luck the next year. The period of time, and the way we celebrate our traditions in Mexico make a lot of difference between the Thanksgiving’s celebrations.

Mexico does not have Thanksgiving Day, but we have “the Posadas”. There are many families come together. This is held daily for nine days before Christmas. That begins the day December 15 and ending on December 24. On these nine days we break piñatas, kids receive “bolos” it’s a bag inside contain candies and fruit of the season. We ate traditional food, pozole, tostadas, tamales, birria, and menudo. To drink they serve hot beverages atole, champurrado, ponche, tequila etc. They do this and different houses. Some people gave to the poor people blankets, sweaters and toys. And to give thanks is tradition of going the whole family to church on the day December 24 before dinner. We usually stay home with the family on this day.

In my country (Iran), we have many celebrations, but is not like thanksgiving day. For example , on the thirteenth day of the Iranian New Year, which also marks the end of the Nowrooz break to the school children ,families leaves their houses and head for the outdoor where they eat, play games, and celebrate a happy and healthy holiday season. This tradition called Seezdah Bedar (seezdah means Thirteen) which in English translates to" getting rid of Thirteen". This fun and exciting outing involves all family members and intended to end the holiday season on a relaxing and positive note. On this day, girls and boys tie a knot with grass and make wishes perhaps for a husband or wife .When the knot is opened (it is believed that) their luck will open and their wishes will come true. Seezdah Bedar is the last day of New Year celebration and life will return to normal the following day .

In my country of Mexico we do not have a celebration like Thanksgiving. The dates that are most important is Independence Day, Christmas and the districts saint day. When does days do come like Christmas tamales are made and a hot drink called ponche which is made out of fruits. Like any celebration you invite family and friends to celebrate with and eat. It is sometimes celebrated with the community but it depends, most families celebrate together. Mexico has a lot of food that can be made for special occasions. Times we use fireworks is for New Years and sometimes saints days. Mexico has a very rich culture and celebrates according to what is being celebrated like in any holiday.

In my country is holiday like "Thanksgiving", it is “The Time of Harvest." These holidays looks like with one another because in this day families gather for a celebratory dinner and thank God for the harvest. This holiday people celebrate at the end of summer, when all the products are ready for consumption. Before this feast all people prepare special food with products which they are grown. In the morning of the day people go to church and carry a variety of products that are grown in their garden. After church everyone goes to visit his family for a common meal. During the dinner, people tell stories about grown foods and crops. Also during the dinner, there is a special thank God for food and crops. My country is grateful to God for the harvest and this is the holiday "Thanksgiving" with their traditions have similar to American`s traditions.

In our country we celebrate a holiday similar to "Thanksgiving" is the opening day of the church. In various towns and villages this festival is celebrated in different seasons and on different days. On this day, people go to church in the morning and praise God. Then people gather with families and invite friends to his home. They sit at the banquet table; eat delicious food and talking about life. I believe that this event brings together family and friends because despite various problems all celebrate this day. Discovery Day of the church is a celebration to a similar holiday "Thanksgiving" as family and friends gather together and enjoy a common meal.

In my country, Mexico, we do not celebrate Thanksgiving Day. The holiday that we celebrate like Thanksgiving Day is Christmas Eve. The first thing that is done, the people in my town, they go to church mass for 9 days before Christmas Day. Then on Christmas Eve we gather the family and relatives at my parents house and make traditional foods like: tamales, mole, birra, carne asada, and to drink we make a punch made out of fruit, also atole, champurrado, and just regular sodas. Before we all eat, we gave thanks for all that are with us and that has come a long ways to be with us and bless the food we are about to eat. Then at night the children start going out house to house, like Halloween, and ask for candy. We just spend those two days, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day together, by just talking and visiting until it is time to go home.

In Chile there is no celebration like Thansgiving. However, Easter could have a similarity in the spiritual aspect. Nevertheless religiosity is very limited. People in a high percentage out of the city where you live. Only dedicated to celebrate mass.

In my country, there is a holiday that is similar to Thanksgiving. It is in the fall, it doesn't have a specific date. It is a day when people give thanks to nature, God, and the people around them for all of the wonderful gifts that they receive. Gifts are anything that a person thinks is important to be recognized. Health, a good harvest, and other things are thanked for on this day. This holiday is celebrated in church and then at home. Most people spend this day with their loved ones.

They go out to tank to god to give them a new life in new year, and they make a wish for each other to be healthy and happy. they make a deliciuse food. the children are play and have fun every year in this day. we have the Yalda too. In Yalda night, they read the Haffez poem, ate pomegrant, and meet old people in family. In most celebrate in my country, people gathered in home of oldest people in family.

In my country there is no such holiday as Thanksgiving Day in America. I love this holiday and I teach my children that this is a special day of thanksgiving to God for a year that God gave us everything we need for our lives. On this day, we go to church. I also cook a turkey on this day in the oven as many people of this country. After going along with the relatives, thank God for the food and eat cooked food.

I my country we have Harvest Day that is similar to Thanksgiving Day. It is not a national holiday so people celebrate it at different times. It's usually at the end of October, when everything is harvested from fields. At that day people thank God for the harvest that they were able to collect with His help. On this holiday people gather at church and have a feast, preparing national and special foods and having a good time.
