I have always thought about the meaning of this very well known phrase with its worldwide reputation, “A Blessing in Disguise” or “Things are not always what they seem”. It is very easy to deceive ourselves that we understand the meaning and the practical implications of this expression as people seldom apply it in their life when they’re facing a life dilemma. One of the reasons could be the fact that the idea may seem too fanciful or unrealistic. I have found myself being intrigued and fascinated by the expression based on what I’ve heard or read about people; missing a bus or plane has saved one’s life from a bus accident or plane crash; one phone call has moved a person from the bedroom to the kitchen before a truck destroy the bedroom;. I can come up with loads of best and worse experiences that I’ve had in my life. What lessons do we learn from such events? Can we apply them in our ever day life by appreciating even the most bitter event that happened to us waiting to see what good will come of it? If we commit ourselves to accept anything that happen to us as “A Blessing in Disguise” then we will no longer stress out over every challenging situation without considering the potential positive outcome that it may lead to.
Best and worse experiences that we encounter in our lives may not necessarily be the result of our negligence or misfortune, but instead to prepare and make us ready to face more challenging situations in life. Don’t you agree?
