To answer the questions about my country, Ukraine, specifically the city where I came from, either it has a day like Thanksgiving—the answer is yes and no. Yes, because there is a time in the Fall when the Christian community gathers and give thanks to God for all the harvest this season. There is no specific date; it could be celebrated anytime in the Fall, but usually is celebrated in September or October. And I answered No, because Ukraine does not have a set date like we have it here in United States. So, it is not celebrated on the national level, it is just if Christian community decides and is willing to celebrate and then it happens. Usually it is the Christians who celebrate this holiday, which is known as “Zhatva”—meaning Harvest. There is no special or certain foods are associated with this holiday, just everyday traditional Ukrainian/Russian food. Different kinds of foods are made and are put out on the table and everyone thank God for a good harvest.

In Ukraine actually there is a day the same as Thanksgiving. We all just get together:friends, family, and relatives. We have turkey and other foods like salads. Also, we thank God for everything we have: food, clothes, house, family,EVERYTHING!! It basically is the same as Thanksgiving here in America. We celebrate this day to thank God for everything he has given us. My favorite meal is the egg salad. The way we cook it is we cut about 6 or more eggs into cubes. Then, we add green onions(cut). After that, we add salt and mayonnaise. It tastes really good!! I eat it with bread and drink water. It's very good.Thanksgiving is a very good holiday because you have a chance to say all your thanks to God. I mean, we do that everyday(I hope!!!)like everyday before I get out of bed, I say thanks to God that he has given me another day in my life. we should all do that!!:) Also, another name for Thanksgiving in my language is "Zjatva" it means Harvest. We celebrated it at our church. It was a lot of fun. We thanked God for the food and EVERYTHING!! Then we praised God with some songs and prayers. It was a lot of fun.Thanksgiving is great in my country.

Yes, there is a day like Thanksgiving in my country Ukraine. Almost everybody in Ukraine celebrates Thanksgiving, even the people that are not Christian are going to church on Thanksgiving. Before Thanksgiving we go to church and bring different kinds of fruits and vegetables. Make the stage all beautiful with the fruits and vegetables that God give us. The name of Thanksgiving in my language means: “Praznik Zhatvu”. All the time before Thanksgiving we learn some Christian songs. The church goes 3- 4 hours. On Thanks giving we make a lot of different kind of food, and it takes a lot of time. One of the recipes I want to mansion right now is the salad called: “Granatovuy Braslet” Ingredients: 300 g baked (pork) meat, 150 g onion, and 300 g baked potatoes, and mayonnaise. Do each slide with mayonnaise. On the top put some grenade.

I am from Ukraine. In Ukraine,in my city Kostopil, the only group of people who really celebrate Thanksgiving is the church. This special celebration is called "Zhatva."It is not a national holiday. The church has no specific day when they celebrate this holiday.Normally, individual churches decide when they are going to celebrate Thanksgiving.Generally, this happens on the first Sunday of a months between September and Desember.

In my country we don’t celebrate thanksgiving or Halloween and, there is not a day similar to these American holidays. In fact when I had my first Thanksgiving I didn’t know why we were celebrating. My ant was preparing a turkey and I ask her why, is this a special day? She said” today is the day we all give thanks to God, thanks to the people we love, thanks to the people we work with, and enjoy a wonderful homemade meal “. Also she said “ the next day is called black Friday and it is the biggest sale of the year in the united state, all the shopping malls will be open at 4am and you can find a lot of things with a low price for Christmas gift”. New years is a big holiday in my country and is not like thanksgiving. In my opinion thanksgiving is a wonderful holiday and I think the whole world should celebrate Thanksgiving Day. In addition to be thankful about life is very important and we should all do it every day not only one day a year. “Thank you!!!!” I don’t have any favorite meal that I like from my native country. In fact I don’t even like it anymore since I have been living in America because in my country when someone preparing any meal they use so much spice. I like Italian and American food because it is not spicy.

No, I think there's no day like Thanksgiving in Russia. But there are many other celebrations. Russia is rich in holidays and traditions. I think every country has a few holidays that can not be found in other countries, because holidays have their roots deep into the history and traditions of each nation, although sometimes there are similar holidays in different countries. For example, I know that there are days likeThanksgiving Day in Canada, the Netherlands, Liberia and the Philippines. The origins of Thanksgiving Day in the U.S. is very interesting. The holiday has some customs and attributes. One of the important attributes of a turkey. By the way one of the interesting things about Russian holidays is that there is no special food for a particular holiday. Most Russian people cook salads for the holidays such as Oliv'e and Vinaigrette. I like second one. For its cooking, the beets put in a pot, pour cold water, add vinegar and boil until cooked without salt. Chilled root is cleaned and cut into small cubes. If you want to beet is not painted over the remaining vegetables, season it with vegetable oil alone. Carrots are washed, cooked without salt. After that, it cut the same way as the beets. Onions cleaned and finely shred. Potatoes are cleaned, washed, boiled in salted water. Then it is cooled and cut into slices. Pickles cut into cubes. Combine all vegetables. Add the sauerkraut and salt. Pour mustard oil or dressing. This salad can be found at any celebration in Russia.

I come from Russia. There is a Harvest day in my country. It is not a national holiday. It is a Christian’s holiday. It does not have a specific date. We celebrate it in the fall after an ingathering. Pastor chooses a day, usually it comes on last Sunday of September or first one of October. Christians usually decorate building of “House of Prayer” (church). We bring a lot of big and beautiful fruits and vegetables and make decorations from them. After worship we have a dinner with everyone who comes to the church. We don’t cook any special meal, but it’s usually something tasty. The important part of that day is not food, but worship!

In my country (Peru) is not usual to celebrate Thanksgiving, but it is customary to celebrate "Semana Santa", here in the United States is called "Easter", the customs are very similar. On Thursday and Friday are holidays. Also it is customary only for these two days not to eat meat, only fish.

In my native country, there is not Thanksgiving or some similar holiday. When I came here, it was a big surprise for me and for my family. Since we never celebrated holiday similar to thanksgiving, it was kind of odd for us. Our relatives explained that Thanksgiving is a holiday that people thank God for the things that they own, or they thank their friends and families. I spent my first Thanksgiving at my cousin's house. They cooked a turkey and salads. They also prepared some delicious cookies and a cake. We enjoyed that dinner and thank God for the things he gave us. After that my cousin said that there is a big sale after Thanksgiving night known as Black Friday. He said that it is a huge sale in almost all stores. After we were informed of the information he told us, we decided to participate in that sale. We bought a T.V. and a computer. We were really happy that we purchased those electronics for cheap. We have now adapted to the holiday and celebrate it in our house. Every year we have a gathering in our house. We enjoy eating tasty food cooked by the ladies. After Thanksgiving dinner, we usually discuss about stuff, or watch T.V. We also love to have some snacks. Every year we can't wait to get ready for Thanksgiving. Luckily my kids have a week off. I think that thanksgiving is a great holiday to celebrate with you family and friends.

I am from Russia. There are a lot of holidays, possibly more than in the United States. Some holidays are longer than in other countries. For example the New Year is celebrated for two weeks. Any way there is no holiday like Thanksgiving. I think because this holiday, or rather its appearance is connected with the history of the country. The Thanksgiving is rooted in the past, in times when the first settlers lived near Indians. Everyone knows this story! Nevertheless, Russia has for example Day of Accord and Reconciliation. It is celebrated on November 4. This day reminds people of reconciliation, harmony and gratitude. However Day of Accord and Reconciliation is an official holiday, but people usually do not celebrate it with their families.

Day of thanksgiving in each country have their own national traditional . In Uzbekistan is called “Kurban Bayram”the day of sacrifice. According to the Koran the {Archangel Dzhabrail} appeared to the prophet Ibrahim in a dream and gave the command of Allah to sacrifice his only son Ismail From Allah, it was a test, and when the victim was almost brought, Allah made it so that knife could not cut when the {Arhangel Dzhabrail} brought a ram as a substitute for Ibrahim. The victim should be healty and have no flaws. Manners admits sacrifice not only for living but also for the dead. At this feast. Muslims during this holiday draw up the festive table in the house . In holiday definitely need to try a variety of meats dishes and refreshments. Adults in holiday try to make gifts to relatives and friends them, because these days are blessed and desirable . Day of sacrifice is celebrated in the early morning . Muslims go to the mosque for morning pray, but first must make ablution. Muslims after the prayer have the ability to offer sacrifice. The meat-third is used to treat his family , and the rest handed out to relatives, neighbors, poor as alms . At home we usually cook a lot of nationality dishes baking several kinds of sweets, cold meats , soup {Kainatma shurva} or soup {Mokhora} from peace soups cooked without oil and only fresh mutton. In {Kazan} cold water put fresh mutton , preferably from bones and cut into small pieces and when the boil remove scum. Then put the carrots , onion, potatoes, herb, spices and to simmer 1,5-2 hours. Allah said about the sacrifice-eat their meat and feed those who are content with small, and those who ask of poverty.

In my country we don’t have the holiday of Thanksgiving but the most similar to Thanksgiving is the New Year holiday which is called “Amanor”. This holiday is the biggest and most celebrated holiday of the year. “Amanor” is celebrated for many reasons, such as welcoming the New Year. It is also the busiest time for every family, lastly there are many preparations involved with this holiday such as preparing meals.

When I lived in my native country, I heard that there was a holyday in the United States called Thanksgiving. In my native country, there is no holiday like Thanksgiving or similar holiday. When my family and I moved to the United States, my father and my mother told us about Thanksgiving. They said that people thank God for the things he gave us like water, food, house and etc. I added this information to my knowledge. When I went to shopping, I saw a buch of people shopping for thanksgiving. We did the same thing. We bought a turkey. We also bought fruits and vegetables. I couldn't wait until Thanksgiving. When the actual day came, I was really excited because it was my first time celebrating the holiday. We had a wonderful dinner. After dinner, we were tired, so we decided to relax. I understood that Thanksgiving is a nice holiday and it should be celebrated in my native country too. Every year I cook a turkey and different verities of food for Thanksgiving. I also invite my friedns and relatives. I also serve salads and mashed potatos. My husband always says that I am a wonderful cook. When he comments me, that makes me happy and I feel like cooking more tasty food. We also participate in the huge sale called Black Friday. Every year we buy something for our family, usually electronics. In conclusion I wish there was Thanksgiving in my native country or similar holiday like Thanksgiving.

There is no national holiday like Thanksgiving in Ukraine where I am from. But a lot of christians celebrate Thanksgiving. There is a big difference betwen celebration here and there. First of all, it is only thanksgiving to the Lord of the Universe for all the harvest this season. Second is that the Christian communities gathers and give thanks to the Lord by praying and singing in churches.

Thanksgiving is a very interesting and lovely holiday for all Americans. They celebrate it on the forth Thursday of November. It is annual one day legal holiday to express gratitude for the things that people have of the harvest season. Thanksgiving is also a chance to thank God for all things He gave us.

I live in United State only two years and a Thanksgivin Day is a new holiday for me.For Amerikan people this holiday take start from seventeenth century and it has some specific traditions. In my country cristian people have a similar holiday to that.It is a Harvest Holiday.Usually this day is on the last Sunday of September. The one or two days before holiday people bring to the church some fruit and vegetables that they grew in their gardens and orchards. They put its in one central place in a beautiful order and decorate it with a different flowers. There are many traditional fruit vegetables in this exposition and it looking very beautiful. In this day cristians give thanks to God about all harvest that thay had in this year.People sing thankfull songs and glorify a God.After that they have a festive dinner. There isn't a special meal in this dinner. There is a traditional Ukrainian food like some salads, meat mashpotato, some cakes and tea or cafe. After dinner some fruit from exposition they give for children and all other fruit and vegetables for poor people. It is a day when cristian people give a gratitude to God about all harvest and bread and all meal. Our country was more than 70 years above comunistic regime and I don't remember holiday like Thanksgiving.

Yes there is a day like thanksgiving in my country.Where everyone celebrate in this day.In my country this day is not a holiday, but usually students do not go to school in this day. Also teachers give a hint about not comming to their students 1 day ago from the thanksgiving date.Usually we call it in its name "THANKSGIVING" which is the same name here in the U.S,but in my language. We call it "EED AL SHOKOR".There are not any specific food associated with this day.Every holiday each family makes the food that they like.Sometimes a family in the neighbor invites another family in the same neighbor, and they prepare a an common known food to eat for lunch.Usually the have tea after the lunch.People celebrate that day because it is a suitable time to thank god ,and to be appreciate for the life that they have and their health.Somepeople also give a thanks because they have jobs and they are living well in their areas where the most living a little bit higher than the poverty line,so that makes them appreciate what they have. Some people celebrate this day because it ios a traditional day in the country where every one celebrate it with or without a reason. My Favorite meal in that day is called KOOZI .I have never cooked it before, but I know that it does contain rise, often yellow rice by adding a color aidin to it.Beside the rice they mix it with different kinds of nuts. Then they put a big fish above the whole thing, and that's it.

I am from Ukraine. Ukraine doesn’t celebrate holiday Thanksgiving. But Christian people celebrate in their church. I want to write about my church in Ukraine. We celebrate Thanksgiving on October. The date is different every years. But this holiday we celebrate only on Sunday. We call this day, this holiday “Thanksgiving” or “The day of Thanks” or “ The day of Harvest.” Because we celebrate this holiday after when people removed harvest. In this day, we bring different fruit, vegetable, water, and a big bread in church. Every day we thank God, but especially in this day we thank God for Bible, health, vegetable, fruit, bread, water, clothing, house, children, parents, family, job, weather, peace, love and another. In the morning we go to church. We tell poems. We sing songs. After church we go to home and we eat delicious dinner with family. We don’t make turkey, because this is not our tradition. Turkeys are very expensive in Ukraine. We make different salads, potatos with meats, chicken, cake and cookies. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday in my life.
