Did you study a foreign language in school? What was it and did you learn it well? Did your country provide a good public school system? How old are students they when they graduate? What do you remember about your teachers? Who was your favorite teacher? Do you still stay in touch with your teachers?

Back in when I was a High school I have been studying Spanish for four years. It wasn’t been easy but I managed to keep working on it as much as I can. The reason it was not easy to learn it because our school provided us with limited numbers of books and supplies that have been needed for studying .So many of us had to share them every time when we were in class and after school, when it been time to do our home work.

In high school I studied English 6 years. I finished school thirty eight years ago. I didn't use English in my life, but I remember many words. Now I can understand more than I can speak in English. I liked study English at school. We had only two hours of English classes in a week. My teacher's name was Polina Semenivna. She was young, intelligent, and patient. I remember her very well. She taught us English and to be polite, good students. In my native country few times changed programs about education. Today our children in Ukraine can study several foreign languages. It's good for their education. They begin to study languages at first grade in elementary school. If children get a good grade at school, then they will be good students at college and the university. If students get a good grade in university too, they will find a good job. In Ukraine high school students are seventeen years old when they graduate. When I was a student in high school, was Soviet Union. I studied Russian language nine years. This language is second after Ukrainian, my native. In school, I had my favorite teacher. She taught Ukrainian grammar and literature. She was average age. Her name was Olga Ivanovna. She was intelligent, beautiful, wise teacher. I remember my school teachers and I can say "Thank you" for your hard work.

Every school in Ukraine has their own study system. In some school kids start learning foreign languages in first grade in other school in fifth. Some of the schools teach German other schools English or French. For example my cousin Marina learned Italian. My husband learned English, but I was learning German. Even though our school system is very good learning foreign languages doesn’t always mean that students will use them in the future. By the time most students graduate from school they learn only most basic things. And in couple years most of the knowledge will be gone. Most of the teachers that teach foreign language are Ukrainian and have heavy accents when they speak. Many words are mispronounced and it is very hard to understand. Many students don’t even try to learn because language will not be used in future life. Students refuse to take this class seriously. Also it is very hard for schools to find a professional teacher to teach foreign language. One of the reasons that there are so little teachers is because salaries are small. People who know foreign languages go working in big companies where they are well paid. So even though I think that our school system is very good I think that teaching foreign languages id very good and affective.

I began to study a foreign language in school when i was 10 years old. At first, i read and memorized words very good, but then i discontinued to understand it, and i lost an interest. I don't remember us to study some grammar, we had to write new words, their transcription, and after study it. The teacher explained grammar either, but she didn't emphasized that, it was not clear for me. Maybe i make a mistake because i was a teenager and did not want to study, but some stories i told exactly on English lessons, but without a pronunciation and an understanding . I just learned it. For today my country provides a good public school system but not without some mistakes. For example, children begin to study math too soon yet, i think. That, what children study in the USA, Ukraine student study soon for two years in math. Right now are good changes: it emphasizes English because borders have opened, and people began to interest it. Students have gotten possibilities to admit in colleges through result of school tests. Teachers study children to think more than just learn and after tell it. Students are eighteen years old when they graduated from school. My teachers were very good and all of them were my favorite... But they spoiled me too much:)

I finished public school in Russia. The public school system in Russia was very good. It has very many subjects to choose from. It was a big school. I studied from the first grade to the tenth grade. I graduated when I was sixteen years old. We studied six lessons each day six days a week. I took English lessons one day per week. The English language was not interesting for me. I did not learn it very well. I remember my teacher who taught Russian Literature. We studied the books of great Russian writers and poets. In the book we read about the bottomless soul's of Russian people and their love of life. The teacher could talk endlessly about the natural beauty of Russia. I have not seen or herd from my teacher since I was in that school.

Our schooling starts from kindergarten, where the kids become familiar with basics of alphabet through games and beginner writing and reading programs. At the age of 6 they go to school to their first grade, and are staying there until the age of18. The school program is designed for 12 years.

I studied a foreign language in the school in Ukraine. It was French. I think i knew that good because my grade wass high. In the Ukraine is a good public school system. . Every school teaches a foreign language. It can be English, German, French. In Ukraine we do not have separation of elementary, middle and high school. Kids of all ages and all grades may stay at the same school. Students graduate from high school when they are seventeen years old. I remember most of my teachers from school . I love all of them, because they are very helpfull, nice and good teacher. They are teached me a lot and helped for all of us. My favorite teacher name is Ivanna Oleksandrivna. She was about 30 years old but she was a very good teacher with big experience. She is from my sewing class. Ivanna O teach me a lot of. In my memory she is best of the best. She nice and kind to me, and also she teached me to do that what i love to do a lot. That experience what she gave me I continue to use in my everyday life. I would like to say big thanks for all teachers. It is big and really hard work. Thank you!!!

i studied foreign language when i was in high school. I used to study French. French language is harder then English. In my country the system was not that good. Our school didnt have those privileges that are in america right now. We have to pay for food and there was no buses so we have to walk home all the time. In my city there was a lot of public schools but not all of them had good systems. Also we have to pay for education that was hard for us students and our parents because in that time not every person had a job and not everyone can support our education. When i was a child we didn't have 12 grade but we had only 8. We had different teachers every class so all of them were different. my favorite teacher was PE teacher. because he didn't give us any homework. When i used to live in my country i saw some of my teachers. Most of them are old in this time. And i really appreciate their hard work. Thank you teachers.

I was born in Iran,Tehran.I grewup and studyed in there.my country is in West of Asia.In my country every thing assigning with religion. There of a aperson wants to go to the good school, they should to be Moslem. In my country schools are in tree groups.1.special schools 2.half special schools 3.government schools.First and second groups of schools are very expencive and very religious too.The girl students should wear to veil and the boy students can't wear jean and shirt with small sleeve.Their hair should tobe very short. In my country talent is not important, what important is religion show.So in this kind of system most of the students don't like school, same me.There, second language is Arabic because every body in government are Moslem and they think students need to study Arabic more of English in middle and highe school. But I remember all my teachers, because I can't forget eny teacher, who teach me one word. But I think, maby peopel can have a teacher out of school. For me best teacher is aperson, who teach me friend and kindness.Iliving with he and he is my husband. sometimes we are looking for good things and look to far but we should attention, maby that tobe very near.

Yes I did in school when I was younger in Colombia. When I went to junior high I began to take English classes. I remember taking those classes until I graduated from high school, but at the time in my life I never really liked it. I never imagined going or even living in the United States of America. I now have 16 years, and use English every single day because of my job. I am dedicating my self and putting forth all my effort to learn the language. I think my countries school system provided good educational systems because all the students take the same eight classes. In high school they gave me four more classes on top of those eight. This is a list of classes we took; math, physical education, science, religion, Spanish, social studies, English and story studies are the classes we took during junior high. The average age of a student who graduates from high school is 18, which is pretty close to here. The average age of a graduate from a university there is about 25 to 30 years old. It just all depends in what your career will be. Out of all my teachers I don’t really have a favorite because in don’t remember them very well but I do remember the help they gave me in school. I graduated from high school in 1984.

I was born in Ukraine. In my country we had good public schools also we had some private schools. Students in public schools can get good education. For students they provide free books and food just in the end of the year books needs to return it in a good conduction or they will need to pay for it. I went to the public school. In my school you can start learning foreign language in a first grade. However I started learning foreign language when I was in third grade and it was Russian and English. In Ukraine students graduate from high school when they are seventeen years old. I remember almost all of my teachers, and have a lot of good memories from school. My favorite teacher was Alina she was teaching me for 3 years from first class to third class. She was quite, polite and intelligent person. She was always telling us that we need not only to learn we need to love learning and to be thankful to have this opportunity. Also she was trying to be not only a teacher but also a friend to us. I’m very thankful to all my teachers that taught me and who will teach me.

School divided into six levels back in my country , first level which its pre school , over there kids start learning how act with other kids , how to speak and learn the alphabet , do some sports and arts , and over pre school the kids age are from 4 years old to 6 years old , after kids grow up and they become a student to go to the second level which its elementary school , students learn mathematics , language , science . Elementary school is for 6 years for the first 4 years they do basic stuff that its get harder step by step , but on the fifth year of elementary school they start to take a second language which its required such as English , on some other schools you are required to take two language which is mostly are English and french . But most of what they take of language studying is just basic stuff.

I graduated from high school almost twelve years ago in Belarus. All schools in my country offer foreign languages with different programs. Some classes study foreign language from first grade, others from fifth. In my first grade I started to learn Spanish; in was the school with a deep learning of Spanish. I was at this school from first to fifth grade. Then, from sixth grade I transferred to another school, which was closer to my house. However, this school offered only English and German, and I started to learn English. I needed to catch up my classmates, so my parents hired a tutor who had to give me lessons for fifth grade which I missed.

I am from former Soviet Union. There was a very well organized public school system. When we went to 4th grade, we began to study foreign languages .There were three languages to choose from - French, English and Germany. Every student had to choose one of foreign languages. I chose English language. Some of my classmates learned German , other French. I remember it was really fun to listened foreign words and repeat them. Of course I did not learn it very well but I hope, I will learn deeper its.

My name is Hani Shahriari I've lived here for two years. I studied english a little in Iran. Learning english was very boring for me because, I didn't have to speak or practice it. However, I studied english in the University when I was in my country. Our teacher in the english class was very active. He tried to help us, and now I can say that I apprciate all of his hard work. Most of teachers in Iran try to help students but, the system is wrong. I don't agree with the Iranian teaching system at all. Usually students graduate from hight school at the age of Seventeen. I liked my fourth grade teachaer the most. He tought me alot of greate things. His name was Mr. Poorahvazi. He worked hard in finding different ways to teach us better. I reammember him smiling most of the times, but he also had his serious momnets. durring the time I went to school it was still leagal to hit children for not learning appropriately. So unfortunately Mr. Poorahvazi also used to hit students as well.

Back in Uzbekistan, when I still went to public school I studied English language, For me English was not that difficult, but also not that easy. I really liked my English teacher, so English was very good for me. Anyways, in Ukraine the public system was not that good. We had a small school and we did not get fed breakfast or lunch. We had to bring our own food, which was usually some bread, meat, and an apple. It was not the best school, at all. I was 17 years old when I graduated school; all of my classmates were also 17 or 18 years old. All of the students that graduated with me were very intelligent and tried very hard. Well, at least most of them did. What I remember about my teachers is that most of them were very nice, but some of them were also very strict. My favorite teacher was my English teacher Olga K. She really encouraged me to be a good person. She told me that I can do and become anything if I just put my heart to it. I am very grateful and thankful for a teacher like her.

My country Iran is providing a very professional public school system, and it normally takes 12 years to be graduated from this system. In this system people go to elementary school for 5 years, and then they transfer to middle school for another 3 years. After middle school they transfer to high school and the study there for another 3 years. On Second year of the high school students have to decide if they want to be a science major, math major, humanity major, or they want to go to the technical school. After they decide their favourite major and finished the last 2 years of the high school, they transfer to a 1 year school of preparing for university. After that they have to take a very difficult test, to become qualify for university. So overall when you are graduating from high school, normally you should be about 18 years old. In Iran`s school system, they start teaching a foreign languages from the second year of the middle school. They teach two foreign languages, and they are English and Arabic. So like other students in my country, I have to study these to foreign languages too. I was doing my best in these classes, and I was doing very well. I was very interested in English language, and I used to like it a lot. But I did not really like the Arabic language, because it was a very difficult language to study. Overall it is been so long from those days, and I forgot most the stuffs that I have been learned. I always remember my eleven class teacher in highschool. She was our art teacher and I cannot forget her. She was so active and always makes us happy. She liked us to listen to music while we are working on our art project. We had realy fun and good time in the class. She had wonderfull idea to create a new things. I learned many interesting things from her that open my mind to art and help me to my work.
